And if\nyou\u2019re an individual who has been through the interview process frequently,\nchances are you\u2019re honing in on the key words and phrases that will get you\nthrough the first round.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Why Non-Traditional Interview Questions Have Value<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>So how can you shake things up?\nAfter all, it\u2019s not fair for a company or employee if neither can give the\nother a candid view of their inner workings. While the traditional questions\nstill provide a lot of valuable information, I encourage you to sprinkle in a\nfew curveballs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These interview questions can help\nyou gain insight into the candidate\u2019s general flexibility, thought process and\nsense of humor. They can also help the candidate to relax and let their wit and\npersonality shine through.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Keep in mind that these interview\nquestions should never be antagonistic, offensive or personally challenging.\nAsking a demeaning question (why shouldn\u2019t we hire you?) shows disrespect for\nboth your candidate and your company \u2013 and there\u2019s no faster way to alienate\nqualified applicants and lost potential talent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Non-Traditional Interview Questions To Ask And The Insight They Provide<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Here is a list of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.allbusiness.com\/7-non-traditional-interview-questions-17756-1.html\">seven\ninterview questions<\/a> from All Business that their HR team uses to get\na closer look at their candidate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What was a hardship that you had to face, and how did you overcome it<\/strong>?\nThis question will show how the candidate is able to navigate through\nchallenges and overcome obstacles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What are you famous for?<\/strong> This gives the candidate an opportunity to\ntell you about their personal brand, which ultimately tells how they will\nrepresent yours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>When you walk into a room, do you prefer to be noticed or fly under the\nradar?<\/strong> This question will tell you whether a person is an introvert or\nextrovert (both can be great personality traits depending on the job position).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What does your morning routine look like?<\/strong> This question will\nprovide better insight on how the candidate prioritizes their daily tasks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>When working on a team, what role do you like best?<\/strong> This will give\nyou a window into the candidate\u2019s comfort in different team roles. All roles\nare considered necessary, but someone who always needs to lead may not exactly\nfit your needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What are all of the possible uses for this (object)? <\/strong>Place an\nordinary object like a Styrofoam cup in front of the candidate and ask them to\nname as many uses it might have. You will get a window into his ability to\nthink on their feet and be creative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What slogan would you put on your own t-shirt?<\/strong> This question will\nreveal someone\u2019s mantra, and possibly their sense of humor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These and similar interview questions encourage a candidate to pause and reflect on important aspects of their relationship with work, ambition, goal setting and interpersonal communication.
